Energy iQ Releases the Survey Result on Key Challenges Surrounding Nuclear New Build

Tuesday, Jan 24, 2012

In preparation of Nuclear New Build Summit 2012 [http://www.nuclearnewbuildsummit.com/Event.aspx?id=670116&utm_campaign=PRNewswire&utm_medium=External&utm_source=EB3EM&utm_content=Homepage&sid=%25%25emailaddr%25%25&mid=%25%25memberid%25%25&MAC=19228.002_PRNewswire ] , a new survey conducted by the Energy IQ asked nuclear professionals to present their views on key challenges surrounding nuclear new build.

Unsurprisingly, the survey shows that a significant 72.8 per cent of industry experts believe that work on nuclear new builds has become more difficult in the last twelve months. It certainly has been a difficult year for the nuclear industry following the events at Fukushima, and the subsequent political decisions taken by European countries such as Germany, Italy and Switzerland to turn away from nuclear power altogether.

However, as indicated by over 90 per sent of the respondents, nuclear power is still considered as a growth area in the medium to long term. Across the globe from America to Asia, new nuclear construction programmes are under way and it is important to understand the strategy and planning that enable these projects to happen.
