Monday, Mar 15, 2010

Support services company VT Group has won a multi-million pound bid to support the Sellafield Site statutory monitoring requirements through its Environmental Laboratory, based at the Westlakes Science and Technology Park, near Whitehaven, in Cumbria.

The new contract extends the work carried out by VT’s Environmental Laboratory and will span a total of three years, with an option for a further one year. It is valued at up to £10 million over three years.

VT was successful in securing all the Lots for which it submitted bids, covering work to ensure that Sellafield Ltd complies with Regulatory requirements stipulated by the Environment Agency and the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate (HSE).

The scope includes analytical services to Sellafield Ltd for approved dosimetry; analysis of terrestrial and marine samples; analysis in support of the Sellafield Site groundwater monitoring programmes; analysis of plant aerial and liquid effluent samples and analysis of samples in support of Sellafield Site Services.

John Chubb, Managing Director of VT Group’s Environmental business, commented: “This is a major success for our Environmental Laboratory and reflects the skills, knowledge and experience of the laboratory team in delivering an excellent performance and customer satisfaction.

”Since acquiring the business we have worked to bring a culture of long-term partnering and Continuous Improvement to the business.
